The Kwara State Football Association has officially lifted the indefinite suspension earlier placed on popular Super Eagles and Kwara United Mascot, Ahmed Alabi Árábàmbi, following the association’s further review of the incident that occurred during the semi-final matches of the First Lady Pre-Season Championship.
Árábàmbi was initially suspended over what the FA described as unacceptable conduct during the visit of the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, at the Kwara Football Academy on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
The incident, which happened during the semi-final matches of the First Lady Pre-Season Women Football Championship, involved a breach of established matchday protocols within the technical area, including an altercation with another mascot.
Following a meeting held on Friday between Ahmed Alabi Árábàmbi, the other parties involved, and the leadership of the Kwara State Football Association, the matter was reviewed extensively and resolved amicably.
The Chairman of the Kwara State FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, thereafter announced that the suspension had been lifted, noting that the decision was taken in the spirit of reconciliation, discipline, and the continued development of football in the state.
Mallam Thuraya, however, reiterated the association’s commitment to maintaining professionalism and respect for laid-down rules, stressing that all players, officials, and mascots must uphold the values and image of football administration in Kwara State.
He stated that while discipline remains non-negotiable, the FA also believes in correction, forgiveness, and giving individuals the opportunity to learn and improve.
The FA urged all stakeholders to remain committed to promoting football development across the state, fostering unity within the football community, and strengthening grassroots and professional football for sustainable growth in Kwara State.
