A 2027 governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, has unveiled his development blueprint tagged “Kwara State Prosperity Agenda,” outlining his vision for a peaceful, united, and prosperous state driven by inclusive governance and people-centered policies.
Sulaiman, a renowned global neurosurgeon, unveiled the agenda during a media parley with members of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) held at his residence in Tanke, Ilorin, where he engaged journalists, youth leaders, and other stakeholders on his plans for the development of the state.
Speaking during the engagement, Sulaiman said his decision to contest the governorship election was motivated by a strong desire to deploy his global exposure and professional experience in service of the people of Kwara State.
“I have travelled far and near, worked hard and gained a lot of experience as a renowned global neurosurgeon. It is time to offer myself for the top job in Kwara to serve the people,” he said.
The governorship aspirant noted that his Kwara State Prosperity Agenda is designed to strengthen peace, unity, and economic prosperity in the state while ensuring that governance remains responsive to the needs of the people.
According to him, education will be a major pillar of his administration, describing it as the most effective tool for both personal advancement and societal development.
He pledged to prioritise quality and free education if elected governor, recalling that he benefited from a similar educational policy during his early years in Lagos State under the administration of former governor Lateef Jakande.
“Education remains the most important tool that can fast-track both personal and societal development. Quality and free education will be the major focus of my administration when elected,” he said.
Beyond education, Sulaiman also identified healthcare, agriculture, security, and the deployment of modern technology as key sectors his administration would prioritise in order to drive sustainable development across the state.
He further explained that although state capitals in many parts of the country often receive preferential attention in infrastructural development, his administration would pursue equitable development across all parts of Kwara.
“The state capital across the country usually gets preferential treatment in terms of infrastructural development. We are promising equitable development, not equal distribution of resources,” he stated.
He added that his government would place strong emphasis on listening to the needs of communities and executing projects that will accelerate grassroots development.
Sulaiman also highlighted the importance of maintaining a productive relationship between government and the media, describing journalists as critical partners in development and governance.
“Government and the media are supposed to be partners in progress. Our administration will continue to build positive relationships with journalists. Apart from receiving valuable feedback from them, they are also a significant part of the state’s economy and we will invest reasonably in them,” he said.
The media parley formed part of Sulaiman’s ongoing consultations with stakeholders as political activities ahead of the 2027 Kwara governorship election gradually gain momentum.
