Kwara Youth Assembly Forms Statewide Coalition to Boost Youth Participation in Governance

The Kwara Youth Assembly (KYA) has announced the formation of a broad-based coalition with multiple youth and civic groups across Kwara State, in a move aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and public affairs.

The announcement, made in Ilorin, signals what the Assembly described as a major step toward building a unified and influential youth platform capable of contributing meaningfully to political dialogue and civic development across the state.

According to the Assembly’s leadership, the coalition brings together a diverse network of youth-led organisations, grassroots mobilization platforms, and civic advocacy groups committed to promoting responsible leadership, political awareness, and active engagement of young people in the democratic process.

Groups already aligned within the coalition framework include CKNG, YODECO, Kwara Central Mandate 2027, Kwara State Movement Support Group, Kwara Youth Progressive Alliance, Kwara State Fulbe APC Support Organisation, Bani APC Youth Forum, Ideology Group, Youth Advancement Network, Integrity Group, Youth Stakeholders Forum, Kwara Youth Caucus, Gaa Immam Youth Vanguard, and Kwara Elite Support Group.

The Assembly noted that the coalition represents a strategic effort to create a coordinated structure that amplifies youth voices, promotes political education, and encourages constructive engagement with government institutions and key political stakeholders.

“This coalition reflects the growing determination among young people in Kwara State to organize, collaborate, and play a more active role in shaping the political and developmental direction of the state,” the statement read.

KYA further emphasized that the alliance will focus on grassroots mobilization, policy engagement, youth leadership development, and community-driven initiatives across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Observers say the expanding alliance positions the Kwara Youth Assembly as one of the fastest-growing youth-driven civic platforms in Kwara, uniting a broad spectrum of youth interests under a common framework for advocacy and engagement.

The Assembly added that more youth groups, professional bodies, and community stakeholders are expected to join the coalition in the coming months, as efforts to consolidate youth participation in governance continue to gain momentum.
