The House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Ndakene, has called for calm, discipline, and unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following controversies surrounding the recently concluded party primaries in Kwara State.
In a statement issued on Monday by his media team, AA Ndakene commended supporters of the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency aspirant for maintaining peace and refraining from actions capable of causing further tension during the primary process.
The team specifically praised supporters for resisting the spread of fake news and avoiding conduct that could undermine the interests of the party despite the charged political atmosphere.
According to the statement, the APC primaries in the state were marred by allegations of irregularities, including attempts by supporters of some aspirants to manipulate the process through the use of different result sheets aimed at declaring preferred candidates as winners.
The media team also expressed concern over what it described as “political theatrics” by certain candidates who allegedly rushed to circulate congratulatory messages without any official confirmation or endorsement from the party leadership.
It warned that such actions could damage the image of the APC and weaken internal democracy within the ruling party.
“Parallel declarations and conflicting claims create unnecessary confusion, erode public trust, and threaten the unity that has remained the APC’s greatest strength over the years,” the statement noted.
The AA Ndakene Media Team therefore urged the national leadership of the APC to intervene decisively and address all reported irregularities surrounding the primaries.
The group also appealed to the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to step in and ensure that due process, fairness, and party rules are upheld.
Reaffirming its commitment to party unity, the team stressed that discipline and respect for democratic procedures must remain paramount in preserving harmony within the APC.
“Unity is our greatest asset. To preserve it, discipline must be enforced and respect for due process must remain non-negotiable,” the statement added.
