Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the opening of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) as a major milestone for Nigeria’s capital market and economy.
Sanwo-Olu joined business mogul and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, at the Nigerian Exchange in Lagos for the opening of the IPO, which marks the first time a refinery is being offered on the Nigerian Exchange in its 66-year history.
The governor said the development further reinforces Lagos State’s position as a leading investment destination, stressing that his administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive and investors can explore new opportunities.
According to him, the state government will continue to support policies and initiatives aimed at improving the ease of doing business, attracting major investments and creating economic opportunities for businesses and residents.
Sanwo-Olu described the Dangote Refinery IPO as another significant development for Nigeria’s capital market, expressing optimism that the milestone would encourage more businesses and investments to leverage the Nigerian Exchange.
He also reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to partnering with the private sector and supporting investments capable of strengthening the state’s economy and contributing to Nigeria’s broader economic growth.
