The Distinguished Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, has mourned the passing of Hajia Maryam Isaaka Alfa-Dodo, the Bwiyon-Kafo of Ilesha-Baruba, who returned to her Creator in the early hours of Tuesday, 24th February, 2026.
In a condolence message, Senator Sadiq described the late matriarch as a woman of rare grace whose life of over a century was marked by faith, humility, wisdom, and selfless service to humanity. He noted that her passing is not only a loss to her immediate family but to the entire Ilesha-Baruba community and Kwara North at large.
The Senator particularly extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, His Royal Highness, Professor Halidu Abubakar (Derekureku IV), the royal family, and the good people of Ilesha-Baruba over the demise of one of the community’s most revered elders. He prayed that Allah comforts the Emir and grants the community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Senator Sadiq also sympathized with the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the deceased, urging them to take solace in the exemplary life she lived and the enduring legacy she left behind.
The Senator encouraged the Muslim Ummah and well-wishers to remember the deceased in their prayers.
