The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Sunday flagged off mobilisation for the 2027 general elections with a massive statewide rally in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party's candidates who emerged from the recently concluded direct primary elections.
The rally, organised by Kwara Progressives under the theme "Kwara Ndupe (Kwara is Grateful)," witnessed thousands of party leaders, candidates and supporters marching through major streets of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, in what organisers described as a show of appreciation and unity.
Speaking with journalists during the rally, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abdulateef Alakawa, said the event was organised to thank Almighty God for the peaceful and successful conduct of the APC primaries, which produced candidates for various elective positions across the state.
According to him, the direct primary process reflected the wishes of party members and reaffirmed the commitment of the Kwara APC to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
"Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions," Alakawa said.
He also dismissed concerns over possible divisions within the party, noting that a reconciliation committee had already been constituted to unite all stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, Ahmad Muhammad, described the zoning of the party's governorship ticket to Kwara North as a demonstration of fairness, equity and inclusiveness. He appreciated President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq and party members for the confidence reposed in him.
"We appreciate the people of Kwara for giving Kwara North the opportunity to produce the next governor. Today's rally demonstrates the confidence and support the people have for the leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq and the APC," he stated.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Olalekan Adewoye, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq and the party leadership for the opportunity to represent the APC, describing the party as one united family committed to victory.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, said the massive turnout reflected the unity and growing strength of the APC in the state.
"The future in Kwara State is APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah. We will continue to remain united and work together for the progress of the party and the state," he said.
The rally is widely seen as the APC's first major statewide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party faithful expressing confidence in retaining power at both the state and federal levels.
